Cruises out of Galveston
Cruises out of Galveston, Texas have been gaining in
popularity over the past few years, as cruisers love the
variety of Caribbean cruises (as well as a cruise to Spain)
which depart from Galveston's Cruise Ship Terminal, as well as
Galveston's smaller port, which is easier for many to
navigate.
Three cruise ships leave the Galveston port: Carnival Cruise
Line's Carnival Ecstasy; Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival
Conquest; and Royal Caribbean's RCL Voyager of the Seas.
Carnival Ecstasy
With a capacity for 2,052 guests, the Carnival Ecstasy
offers 4 and 5-day cruises to the Western Caribbean, with a
stop in Cozumel on the 4-day cruise, and an additional stop in
Progresso, Yucatan, Mexico on the 5-day cruises. The Ecstasy
offers 2 pools, card room, library, two dining rooms, a cafe,
bar and grill, casino and numerous lounges.
Carnival Conquest
The Carnival Conquest offers 7-Day Cruises to the West
Caribbean, with stops in: Montego Bay, Jamaica; Grand Cayman,
Cayman Islands; and Cozumel, Mexico. Carnival Conquest is one
of the larger cruise ships with a capacity for 2,974
passengers, and offers 556 private balcony staterooms, a couple
piano bars, a dance club, several restaurants, pool and
casino.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Voyager of the Seas
Royal Caribbean offers several 7-night Western Caribbean
cruises which depart from Galveston, as well as a 13-night
Spanish Transatlantic Cruise with stops in Miami, Florida;
Ponta Delgada, Azores; Cartagena, Spain; and Barcelona,
Spain.
This ship is big. How big? It can hold 3,114 guests. That's
pretty big. So, what type of "extras" do you get with a ship
this size? You get some things you don't on the smaller ships,
like an ice-skating rink and a rock-climbing wall. You also get
a 9-hole miniature golf course, a full-size basketball court,
golf simulators, a screening room with first-run movies, two
pools, a solarium with an indoor/outdoor pool, and the Royal
Promenade, an onboard Main Street with shops and bars.
All this might make you forget you're on a ship. But, if you
like all the amenities more than the ocean experience, then
perhaps Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas is for you.
Don't Forget to Explore Galveston
While booking your Galveston-departure cruise, don't forget
to spend a little time in Galveston itself. It's a great
vacation spot with a famed Historic Strand District, 32 miles
of beaches, Moody Gardens with the largest bat exhibit in the
Southwest, and the Shlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark
which is the first indoor/outdoor convertible waterpark.
