Boating Vacations

Lake Mead Houseboat Rental Info

Located in Southern Nevada and Northern Arizona, Lake Mead is one of America's most popular recreation areas, as well as a popular lake for a houseboat vacation.

Located on the Colorado River, Lake Mead is about 15 miles southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada and covers the states of Nevada and Arizona.

Formed when the Colorado River was dammed during the 1930s, Lake Mead is the 16th largest man-made lake in the world and the largest man-made lake in the Western Hemisphere. With a 12-month season of boating, skiing, fishing and swimming, it's no wonder that Lake Mead receives more than 9 million visitors each year, many of them choosing to rent a houseboat and take in the 550 miles of pristine shoreline and soaring red rock cliffs, or fish for striped and largemouth bass, of which Lake Mead is famous.

The best time to rent a houseboat on Lake Mead is definitely in the spring and fall when there are warmer temperatures. The months of June through August see temps over 100 degrees, but if you can stand the heat of the day, you will find houseboat rates fall by several hundred dollars.

There are two popular areas to rent a houseboat on Lake Mead, one on the Nevada side on one on the Arizona side. You can find houseboat rentals in both areas provided by Forever Resorts, which is an authorized concessioner of the National Park Service, and operates under special use permits with the USDA Forest Service.
